Reports of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change

 

             Shri Jairam Ramesh, Chairman, Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change presented the 333rd to 339th Reports of the Committee (in English and Hindi) on Action Taken by the Government on the recommendations/observations contained in the 326th to 332nd Reports of the Committee on Demands for Grants (2020-21) of the Ministries/Departments of Atomic Energy; Biotechnology; Scientific & Industrial Research; Science & Technology; Space; Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Earth Sciences respectively to the Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha, on Monday, the 30th November, 2020. A copy each of the said Reports has also been forwarded to the Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha for information.

2.         The Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha has ordered publication or circulation of the Reports.

Selection of subjects by the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance

                The Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance have selected the following subjects for detailed examination during the year 2020-21:-

  1. Long term impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy, trade flows, and financial markets;
  2. Increasing the availability of equity and debt capital for the rural economy;
  3. Financing infrastructure requirements including long-term corporate debt;
  4. Financing the MSME sector; its growth and regulation;
  5. Providing credit to the agricultural sector including appraisal of NABARD’s role;
  6. Efficacy of overall taxation framework including long-term corporate debt;
  7. Analysis of disinvestment programme;
  8. Performance and regulation of insurance and pension sectors;
  9. Implementation of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code - Pitfalls and solutions; and
  10. Strengthening RBI and SEBI’s regulatory and operational capabilities.

*Apart from these subjects, the Factoring Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 has been referred to the Committee by the Hon’ble Speaker on 24th September, 2020 for examination and Report thereon.
