A lawyer, orator, legislator, publicist, educationist and humanist, Sachchidananda Sinha was a member of the Imperial Legislative Council and the Indian Legislative Assembly.  He was Deputy President of the Assembly in 1921.  He also held the office of the President in the Bihar and Orissa Legislative Council.  Later, he was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly also.  In 1946, he served as the Interim President of the Constituent Assembly.  A spirit of rationalism and nationalism pervaded all his political and social reform activities.  He endeared himself to the people all the more by his boldness, impartiality and hardwork.
