BRIEF RESUME' OF THE BUSINESS TRANSACTED BY THE RAJYA SABHA DURING ITS TWO HUNDRED AND TENTH SESSION
(23-2-2007 to 21-3-2007 and 26-4-2007 to 17-5-2007)
Summons for the Two Hundred and Tenth Session of the Rajya Sabha was issued to the Members on the 7th February, 2007.
DURATION OF THE SESSION
The Two Hundred and Tenth Session of the Rajya Sabha commenced on the 23rd February, 2007. The House was scheduled to adjourn on the 21st March, 2007 for four weeks to enable the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to examine and report on the Demands for Grants of various Ministries/Departments. It was to reassemble on the 18th April, 2007 and adjourn sine die on the 22nd May, 2007. However, the House unanimously agreed to reschedule the 2nd part of the Session, i.e. to commence from Thursday, the 26th April, 2007 instead of the 18th April, 2007 and continue up to Tuesday, the 22nd May 2007. The House, however, adjourned sine die on the 17th May, 2007, following a proposal received from the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting and agreed to by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha. The House sat for 31 days and the actual hours of sittings were 88 hours and 36 minutes (excluding recess intervals). The House was prorogued by the President on the 21st May, 2007.
