BRIEF RESUME' OF THE BUSINESS TRANSACTED BY THE RAJYA SABHA DURING ITS TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTH SESSION
(25TH FEBRUARY TO 13TH MAY, 2005)
Summons for the Two Hundred and Fourth Session of the Rajya Sabha was issued to the Members on the 31st January, 2005.
The Two Hundred and Fourth Session of the Rajya Sabha commenced on the 25th February, 2005. The House adjourned for three weeks on the 24th March, 2005 to enable the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to examine and report on the Demands for Grants of various Ministries/ Departments and reassembled on the 19th April, 2005 (The House was earlier scheduled to reassemble on the 18th April, 2005, however, on account of Ram Navami, the sitting fixed for that day was cancelled). The House was adjourned sine die on the 13th May, 2005. The House sat for 38 days and the actual hours of sittings were 173 hours and 5 minutes (excluding recess intervals). The sitting of the House fixed for the 7th March, 2005 was cancelled on the recommendation of the Business Advisory Committee and an additional sitting of the House was fixed on the 19th March, 2005 on the recommendation of the said Committee. The House was prorogued by the President on the 17th May, 2005.
On the 25th February, 2005, National Anthem was played.

On the 25th February, 2005, Secretary-General laid on the Table a copy (in English and Hindi) of the President's Address to both Houses of Parliament assembled together on the 25th February, 2005.
