STANDING COMMITTEE ON HOME AFFAIRS INVITES SUGGESTIONS ON PRIVATE DETECTIVE AGENCIES (REGULATION) BILL, 2007

Private Detective Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2007 as introduced in Rajya Sabha on 13 August 2007 and pending therein has been referred to Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by Smt. Sushma Swaraj, M.P. for examination and report.

2. The Bill seeks to regulate the functioning of private detective agencies and provide for constitution of a Central Board at the Central level and State Boards at the State level for granting of licences and also to make holding of licences mandatory for carrying on the business of private detective agencies.

3. The Committee invites written memoranda containing suggestions/ views/comments of individuals/institutions/organisations interested in the subject matter of the Bill.

4. Those desirous of submitting memoranda to the Committee may send two copies (each in English and Hindi) thereof to Shri D.K. Mishra, Deputy Director, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi-110001 {Tele: 011-23035410 (O) and 23012007 (fax)} within 30 days of the date of this advertisement indicating whether they would also be interested in giving oral evidence before the Committee.

5. The memorandum submitted to the Committee would form part of its records and would be treated as confidential and therefore should not be printed, circulated or publicized by anyone, as such an act would constitute a breach of privilege of the Committee.

6. The Bill was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 2, dated the 13 August 2007.
