DEPARTMENT –RELATED PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE INVITES SUGGESTIONS ON THE PARAMEDICAL AND PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTRAL COUNCILS-BILL, 2007
The Paramedical and Physiotherapy Central Councils-Bill, 2007 as introduced in the Lok Sabha on 4th December, 2007 and pending therein, has been referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare headed by Shri Amar Singh, M.P., Rajya Sabha for examination and report thereon.
2. The Paramedical and Physiotherapy Central Councils-Bill, 2007 proposes to set up separate Council for Medical Laboratory Technicians, Radiology Technicians and Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists with a view to maintain proper standards in the training of the paramedical professionals. These Councils will be responsible, inter alia, for maintenance of uniform standards of education in the respective disciplines and registration of qualified personnel for practising the profession.
3. In order to have wider consultations, the Committee has
decided to invite written memoranda containing suggestions/views/comments of
individuals/institutions/ organizations interested in the subject matter of the
Bill.
4. Those interested in the subject matter of the Bill may obtain
on requisition, a copy of the Bill from the Committee Officer (H&FW), Room
No. 218, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi-110001 or
have it downloaded from the Rajya Sabha
website http://rajyasabha.nic.in under the heading 'Bills with the Committee’.
5. Those desirous of submitting memoranda to the Committee may
send two copies thereof, either in English or Hindi, to Smt. Arpana Mendiratta,

days of publication of the advertisement.
Besides, those who are desirous of giving oral evidence before the
Committee are requested to indicate so, for consideration of the Committee.
6. The memoranda submitted to the Committee will form part of the
records of the Committee and would be treated as strictly confidential and may
not be made public as such an act would constitute breach of privilege of the
Committee.
