M.A. (Political Science); C.P.I. (M) (West Bengal); daughter of Shri Hareesh Bhadani and Smt. Jamuna Bhadani; born : at Bikaner, July 21, 1954; educated at (i) M.S. College for Girls and (ii) Dungar College, Bikaner; married to : Shri Arun Maheshwari, May 27, 1974; 1 son and 1 daughter

Whole time party worker; took active part in agitation for establishment of University in Bikaner in 1972; in 1975 fought against Emergency; joined C.P.I. (M) in 1975 and the Editorial Board of "Swadhinata" Hindi Weekly; Joined W.B.D.W.A. in 1977; joined Janvadi Lekhak Sangh and became Vice-President of Janvadi Lekhak Sangh West Bengal; Secretariat Member, (i) West Bengal A.I.D.W.A., and C.E.C. and (ii) Governing body of West Bengal Hindi Academy; Member, (i) AIDWA Governing body of the Savitri Girls College, Calcutta, 1986, (ii) Committee of Privileges and (iii) Committee on Railways; elected to the Rajya Sabha in April, 1990.

Publications: `Marxwad Aur Nari Mukti' (Hindi Translation), `Do Rahnuma' (Hindi Translation) and 'Julius Ceasar Ke Antim Saat Din' (Drama Translation).

Special interest: Reading and writing and taking part in literary congregation.
