Graduate; T.D. (Andhra Pradesh); d. of Shri Krishna and Shrimati Neelavani; b. at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, April 3, 1962; ed. At, Rajalakshmi Women's College, Rajahmundry, East Godavari District; m. Shri Srikant Nahata, June 22, 1986.

Artist (film actress); film career started with `Bhoomikosam', her first Telugu film; acted in over 220 films in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil and Malayalam; acted in two latest movies `Lava Kush' and `Vivekananda'; participated in social service activities; toured throughout the State of Andhra Pradesh with Shri NTR and ANR for collecting cyclone relief fund for the Deviseema calamity, 1977; organised and participated in Star Nights and contributed the proceeds to the Mother Teresa Cancer Institute and Punjab Police Welfare Fund; organised many Health Camps including Blood Donation Camps; established Jayaprada Charitable Trust which has organised Eye Camps, Eye Banks, Blood Donation Camps, Ortho Camps and other social welfare activities; joined Telugu Desam Party at the invitation of Shri N.T.Rama Rao on 10 October 1994 and later joined Chandra Babu Naidu Group of the ruling Telugu Desam Party; President, Telugu Mahila of Telugu Desam Party; Member, (i) Shramadanam Programmes, (ii) Committee on Industry, 1996-97, (iii) Committee on Petitions, (iv) Committee on External Affairs, (v) Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and (vi) Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; elected to the Rajya Sabha in April, 1996.

Accomplishment in arts and science: Learned classical Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam; received, (i) Kala Saraswati Award, (ii) Kinnera Savitri Award, (iii) Rajiv Gandhi Award,(iv) Filmfare Award, (v) Nargis Dutt Gold Medal, (vi) Shakuntala Kala Rathnam Award and (ii) Uttam Kumar Award.
