Movie Artiste; started career as a Physical Education Teacher at Madras and left the job after one year and started film career as Assistant Director and Associate Director and worked in that position till 1975; was introduced as "MOHAN BABU" by Shri Dasari Narayana Rao, an eminent Film Director in his film "SWARGAM NARKAM"; acted in 446 films; was introduced to the Tamil films by "Nadidgar Thilagam" by Padmasri Shri Sivaji Ganesan and acted in 16 Tamil films; produced 16 films under his banner "Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures" including a film, `Major Chandrakanth' with late Shri N.T. Rama Rao; an ardent follower of late Shri N.T. Rama Rao; started educational institutions in Chitoor District, Andhra Pradesh : (i) Sree Vidya Nikethan Residential School, (ii) Sree Vidya Nikethan Junior College, (iii) Sree Vidya Nikethan Degree College and (iv) Sree Vidya Nikethan Engineering College which provide 25% free education to the poor and needy irrespective of their caste, creed and religion; donated Rs. 28 lakhs to various institutions and organisations like Red Cross, etc. till 1995 and has earned the titles of `NATA PRAPURNA' and `COLLECTION KING'; awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by the International University of California in 1996; Chairman, Sree Vidyanikethan Education Trust; Member, (i) Committee on Human Resource Development, 1996-97,(ii) Committee on Urban and Rural Development and (iii) Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; elected to the Rajya Sabha in April, 1995.

Special interest : Cultural activities, upliftment of the down-trodden, particularly the rural poor and social work.
