Advocate; attended 10th World Youth Festival at Berlin, 1973 and Pyongyang, 1990; President, Pradesh Youth Congress (I) (PYC), 1978-1982; General Secretary, (i) PYC, 1976-1978 and (ii) PCC(I), 1981-1987; Joint Secretary, PCC(I),1978-1981; Treasurer, Goa, Daman & Diu Pradesh Youth Congress, 1972-1976; Member, (i) Coir Board, 1995-98, (ii) House Committee, 1992-93, (iii) Committee on Subordinate Legislation, (iv) Committee on Commerce, and (v) Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers; attended the 50th General Assembly, U.N.O. in December, 1995 and addressed it on `Social Development'; nominated to the Panel of Vice-Chairmen, Rajya Sabha; elected to the Rajya Sabha in July, 1987 and re-elected in July, 1993.
