Advocate and Journalist; Representative of Press Trust of India at Kota, 1957-84; entered political life through student and youth movement; participated in the first camp of Youth Congress organised at Khadrala at Indo-China Border under the leadership of Shrimati Indira Gandhi in 1952; President, Herbert College Students' Union, Kota, 1953-54; Vice-President, National Union of Students of India, 1953-56; Chairman, Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Mental Health Bill, 1981, 1984-85; Director, Bank of Baroda, 1970-73; Secretary, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress (I) Committee, 1977-79; Hony. Narasimha Rao during his State visits to Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China and Iran, 1993, Davos (Switzerland), Germany, U.K., 1994, Denmark, Maldives, France, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Colombia, USA, Burkina Faso, Argentina and Ghana, 1995 and (xii) accompanied the Vice-President Shri K.R. Narayanan during his visit to United Kingdom, May 21-27, 1993; Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, 1993-96, assisted the Prime Minister as Minister of State in the (a) Departments of Atomic Energy, Space, (b) Ministry of Science & Technology since February, 1993 and December 1993, respectively till 1996 and (c) Department of J&K Affairs; elected to the Rajya Sabha in April, 1982, re-elected in April, 1988 and again in April, 1994.
