Graduate in Commerce; I.N.C. (Rajasthan); s. of Shri Mahabir Prasadji Bagrodia and Shrimati Indravati Devi Bagrodia; b. at Calcutta, December 11,1940; ed. at St.Xaviers College,Calcutta; m. Shrimati Pushpa Bagrodia, January 26,1961; 1 s. and 2 d. Businessman and Industrialist; associated with Indian National Congress since birth; started a middle school which is now upgraded to Higher Secondary School; arranged a number of widow marriages; worked for the welfare of the poor; helped school for blind, deaf and dumb; adopted orphans; worked as a catalyt to arrange drinking water schemes in many villages by the Government and private non-government organisations; joined "Jaycees" an international leadership development youth organisation in 1970; joined in active politics in 1975 by joining the Indian National Congress; helped the party in all Assembly and Parliament elections by being observer and also by campaigning extensively; visited, (i) U.S.A., on youth exchange programme of "Experiment in International living",1969 and (ii) Greece, as one of the sixteen young people selected from all over the world by "Centre for International Understanding" of USA; was President, Local Chapter of the "Jaycees" 1972; Vice-President, All India,"Jaycees",1976; was Chairman, Technical Teachers Training Institute, 1994; was Co-Chairman, Fund Raising Committee of the Congress (I) for Natural Disasters; was Joint Secretary, A.I.C.C, May 1996-97; was Observer in the States of Sikkim, Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, Punjab, Delhi, etc., from time to time; Director,West Bengal Warehousing Corporation, Calcutta; was Member, (i) Local Railways and Telephone Committees in Jaipur, Rajasthan for many years and (ii) A.I.C.C. since 1992; Member, Committee on Industry; elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1986 and again in July,1998.
